2010 TRIAD IDOL Rules

Official Contest Rules

  1. Before auditioning, every participant must submit the $10 registration fee and a completed, signed registration form verifying that he/she has read the TRIAD IDOL Official Contest Rules and Participant Agreement.
  2. Participants will compete in one of three age groups—ages 8-12, 13-18, or 19 and over. All participants must be at least 8 years of age as of May 1, 2010.
  3. Participants under the age of 18 as of May 1, 2010 must have a parent sign his/her TRIAD IDOL Registration Form before auditioning.
  4. All audition songs must be sung a capella—without music or accompaniment of any kind.
  5. All auditions will be limited to 30 seconds of singing. Participants should sing the 30 seconds of their audition song that best showcases their voice—even if those 30 seconds come in the middle of the song. The judges reserve the right to ask a participant to stop singing before the 30 seconds are up.
  6. Decisions of judges are final. Questioning a judge’s decision will result in immediate expulsion from the competition.
  7. Only participants are allowed backstage during auditions and/or performances.
  8. For Minors: If participant is a minor, parents may not accompany child backstage for auditions and/or performances. Children who wish to participate must be able to audition and perform unaccompanied by a parent or guardian.


Official Contest Participant Agreement

The participant named on a properly signed TRIAD IDOL Registration Form (hereafter known as "Participant") and the Community Theatre of Greensboro ("CTG") and other sponsors (hereafter known as "Organizers") agree to the following terms with respect to the TRIAD IDOL Contest:

  1. The Organizers are not responsible for any delays or non-receipt of applications on any account and for any reason whatsoever.
  2. If the Participant is under the age of 18 as of May 1, 2010, he/she must have the TRIAD IDOL Registration Form signed by a parent or guardian.
  3. Incorrect information on the TRIAD IDOL Registration Form or on any other form furnished to the Organizers in connection with the TRIAD IDOL Contest will result in disqualification, whether discovered prior to, during, or after the Final Event.
  4. The Participant shall appear at the Preliminary Auditions (on May 1 & 2, 2010) prepared to sing a song, without accompaniment, of no longer than 30 seconds.
  5. The Participant will conduct him/herself courteously and professionally throughout the TRIAD IDOL Contest.
  6. If selected to perform in subsequent rounds, the Participant shall take part in all subsequent TRIAD IDOL events scheduled by the Organizers (May 15 or 16; June 5 or 6; June 13).
  7. The schedule is subject to change at the discretion of the Organizers.
  8. The Organizers are not responsible for non-completion/non-occurrence of the Contest.
  9. Any Participant who fails to strictly comply with the TRIAD IDOL Participant Agreement or any other rules established by the Organizers, or who fails to appear as required, shall be disqualified.
  10. The Organizers are not responsible for any loss or physical injury that occurs to the Participant on account of Participant’s participation in the TRIAD IDOL Contest. The Participant will participate at his/her own risk and will have no claim against the Organizers in any regard.
  11. In the event of any dispute, the Organizers’ decisions are final and binding on the Participant. The panel of judges’ decisions will be final.
  12. The Organizers make no guarantees that participation in the TRIAD IDOL Contest will result in the Participant being selected to participate in any show or event, record any music, or in any other way have an amateur or professional performing career.
  13. Participant’s image, likeness, and voice may be used in promotional material and television and radio broadcasts as well as in any other medium (including the Web) that the Organizers deem appropriate during the period during which the TRIAD IDOL Contest takes place, and for one year after the completion of the TRIAD IDOL Contest.
